The Crevice and the Serpent

Oh, spiteful crevice
that lies down below
Concealed during daylight
but come nightfall, must show
its abhorred face, with lips of greed
intending to take all
and uphold no creed

It’s companion, the serpent,
Of equal sinistry
Conjoins with the other
And creates most sinful glee
Until their selfish needs satisfy
And without word nor thought
They side-by-side lie
